Vibe Rater Podcast #9 (2012 End Of Year Mix)

For this, the final podcast of 2012, here's a selection of the tunes we've been enjoying the most over this past year. It's been a bit of a strange year for electronic music, with not a lot of exploration into new styles; instead, artists have mainly focused on delving deeper into existing sounds. Without something new to catch the imagination, the early months of the year didn't seem to promising in terms of offering something exciting; but hindsight is a wonderful thing, and looking back there's been some quality stuff coming out in various genres.

The mix features both exciting newcomers such as Diclosure, as well as a few veterans still showing good form in the guise of Kosheen. There's a track from the superb Justin Martin album, but also present are some good tracks which appeared on otherwise shoddy releases (we're looking at you, High Contrast). I was really keen to get an Andy Stott song onto here, in recognition of the deserved attention he's finally getting, and hopefully we've been uncovering a few unknowns for you such as Downliners Sekt and :PAPERCUTZ. Also, how good is it that Burial keeps putting new music out?
